‘Impulses of freedom’ is a work-in-progress that deals with rescuing and upgrading images which reflect forms of reaction, rebellion, uprising, resistance, signs of victories and defeats in the field of social rights from different times and places in Europe. All these forms focus on the act of claiming as an endless gesture that whirs from one “impulse of freedom”, as mentioned by Sigmund Freud.
Bring back this territory of actions implies updating, recalling and becoming aware of a certain past of demands, which the hegemonic powers of the present wanted to keep buried, invisible, and inactive. Georges Didi-Huberman sums this up in a few words: memory burns in the uprisings that had led us to the social progress that we enjoy these days.
