Group exhibition “Reset Mar Menor” was closed on January 10, 2021, at Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània.
The exhibition featured works of 15 artists from Spain, United Kingdom, Austria and United States who gathered in order to raise awareness on the ecological problems which the saltwater lagoon Mar Menor is facing. The lagoon’s biodiversity is characterized by rich flora and fauna, mixed with the mild climate and hot springs that emerge from its peaceful and shallow waters. Unfortunately, since the mid-20th century, the urban pressure and overexploitation of resources, along with an increase in the amount of waste produced by agriculture and mining, led the lagoon to an alarming state of deterioration. Now an international consortium of scientists, activists and artists are fighting to restore the lagoon’s ecosystems and ensure its survival.
You can also take part in raising awareness about this burning ecological problem by learning more about Mar Menor and efforts of people protecting it.
