Exhibition The Correlations introduces us to a unique visual world of two clearly defined artistic concepts that reveal their similarities and opposites in mutual cooperation. In this dual set, the works of Olga Jevrić, one of the most important artists of Serbian and Yugoslav sculptural practice of the 20th century, and Nikola Kolya Božović, a middle generation artist and associate professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, create a state of intensified focus and hidden dialogue. In the interweaving of various formal artistic solutions, semiotic features and delicate poetics, this visual ensemble calls the attention of the observer to explore a challenging connection and discover new possibilities of perceiving their works.
The exhibition features works from the latest cycle of Kolya Božović’s Division (installations, paintings and drawings), as well as a small selection of sculptures by Olga Jevrić created in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, from the collection of the Heritage House. In the challenging confrontation of two different artistic narratives, which carry reflections of the concepts of modern and post-modern art and personal aesthetic starting points, everything that emphasizes them in a formal and semantic sense creates positions-perspectives that lead to new interpretations.
